The Customs Union is a combination of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. They came together in 2010 for the purpose of improving trade within these three countries. They came up with and adopted rules that would be applicable in these three countries with regard to trade. This was in an effort to increase the speed at which goods moved within these countries.

This union has seen the growth of trade in this area. It has even fostered a better economy for all member states and their political ties have improved as well. The Customs Union certification standards are taken as very important and have to be met so as to ensure that all goods circulating within the CU are of the same high quality.

Regulations in force in the Customs Union

There are some items that require more detailed inspection for them to be considered to have passed the quality standards. Such products have to be taken through CU TR. CU TR stands for Customs Union Technical Regulations. These regulations are used in the Customs Union as a sure way of testing product quality.

They are applied to items like machinery, equipment used for dangerous work, devices used for lifting items, processes like packaging, manufacturing, transportation, storage, warehousing, disposal and sales. They are also used on regular products. These Customs Union certification standards are used so as to ensure that the products being brought forward for distribution are not detrimental to the environment, human health and safety and property as well.

Requirements of CU TR

These regulations are mandatory for all CU residents and even those outside of this region. The scope covered by these regulations is very wide and it is beginning to even overshadow the internal regulations in Russia because of its wider scope.

All statutory, registration, technical and export documents have to be provided for scrutiny. They are examined and the products themselves are also taken through a series of tests. The tests are to confirm the paperwork and ascertain the contents of the products and whether products are truly up to standard.

Once the contents and standards are confirmed the manufacturer receives a document or documents from the three available conformity documents. These are the certificate of conformity, State registration certificate and the declaration of conformity. The first document is proof that the products are indeed up to standard, the second is proof of registration and the third is a statement by the manufacturer acknowledging that the products are indeed of good quality. The specific document a manufacturer receives will be dependent on the product and the technical regulations surrounding it.

These three documents serve to cement the position of the manufacturer in the market because their products are identified as quality and safe for use. This will have consumers turning to these certified products as opposed to others that may not have the same rating.

These documents are valid for between 1 and 5 years. If your supply contract for the goods will not last that long you can get certification for that single shipment of goods that you would like to import. The terms are flexible and are favourable to all types of importers.

Changes to the Customs Union certification standards are constantly being made so as to make sure that every process remains updated according to current standards. New technologies are being invented and adopted to improve safety and these should also be adopted whenever possible hence the constant changes. Staying in contact with an expert in that field would enable you to have the right information at any one time so as to complete the procedure using the appropriate means.
